Hello all, and welcome to the FLEET FEET SLIM 5K/10K!

As it enters its fourth year, the race is becoming increasing popular and professional, attracting more than 600 RUNNERS this past April. This year, we are making every effort to perfect it. With improvements such as certified course measurement, professional chip timing, and with the support of Fleet Feet Pittsburgh, we hope to increase participation to 1000 runners, and to give every single participant a top-notch experience.

RACE DAY PROCEDURES

Race participants should arrive at least half an hour before the start of the race.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

8:30 Race shuttles leave Pitt campus for South Park
Shuttles will be parked on Bigelow Blvd., in front of the Pittsburgh Athletic Association Building, across from Soldiers and Sailors Memorial. When registering, please indicate if you will be using the shuttles on race day.
9:00 Race Check-in opens
All participants must go to the check-in table, where they will receive their timing chips. ALL CHIPS MUST BE RETURNED AFTER THE RACE. RUNNERS WILL BE HELD PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY MISSING CHIPS.
9:45 10k starting horn sounds
10k runners start from in front of Silent Brook Barn, on 100 Acre Drive, and will be lead along the course by a volunteer on a bicycle. The race ends in the same spot as the start.
10:00 5k starting horn sounds
5k runners also start from in front of Silent Brook Barn, and finish in the same spot.
10:30 Post-race activities
These include a food spread, music, goodie bags, information about Student Leaders in International Medicine and Kenyan Pediatric HIV Project, as well as raffle prizes, and other activities

12:00 Post-race activities end & shuttles return to Pitt campus

For the distribution of medals, racers will be broken down into the age groups listed above, for both the 5k and 10k,  as well as by gender. Medals will be distributed to the winner of every age group in these categories. The 2nd and 3rd place finishers in the age groups will also be awarded medals.

Overall male and female winners will be custom-fitted for new running shoes.

 

PARKING/DIRECTIONS/SHUTTLE

DIRECTIONS TO RACE

  • The location of the race is very near to the intersection between Route 88/Libary Rd., Baptist Rd., and Corrigan Dr. in Bethel Park, but the race takes place in South Park. 
  • Follow Rt. 88 South from Rt. 51 to this intersection.  You will see a sign: "Welcome to South Park" at the corner of Corrigan Dr. and Library Rd. 
  • Head through the intersection, bearing slightly left so that the sign is on your right side. 
  • About a quarter of a mile down Corrigan Dr., you will see the South Park Ice-Skating Rink on the right side of the road.  Park in the parking lot of the rink.
  • The race will be starting on 100 Acre Dr, Bethel Park, PA 15102, which is across from the skating rink parking lot (you can locate it on Google Maps it if you wish).  
  • A crossing guard will be present to help you cross Corrigan Dr. safely. 

 

SHUTTLE

If you are taking the free shuttle from Oakland, the shuttle will be leaving from in front of the Pittsburgh Athletic Association building at the corner of the Fifth Avenue and Bigelow Blvd., at 8:30 am on the morning of race day (April 3rd). PLEASE BE ON TIME, THE SHUTTLE WILL NOT WAIT FOR YOU!  

 

If you indicate that you plan to use the shuttle on race day, a seat will be provide for you. You will be dropped off in a parking lot next to the start of the race. After the race, you will catch the shuttle back to Oakland from the same location. There will be signs and volunteers  to direct you from the parking lot to check-in. Volunteers will be wearing neon-colored shirts.
